Headlines are a KEY part of any webpage.
Whether it's the home page, category page, product page or even checkout pages, the choice of your headlines can DRASTICALLY boost your conversions. – Or kill them.

If I had to chose only ONE single element to test on any webpage it would be the headline.
It's quick and easy to test (no need for a web designer or coder), and it can have tremendous impact on the overall conversion rate of the page.
The only part I'm in a bit of a disagreement in this infograpic is “the perfect lenght for a headline is 6 words”.
Certainly, if you can persuade people using less words, like 6, then that's great. But I'd argue that focusing on the exact number of words might take someone away from the core purpose of the headline which is: convey a good quality benefit and make visitors read the rest of the page.
You need to accomplish this regardless of the number of words.
I've had clients tell me before “we can't run this test, there are too many words for a headline”. Says who?
If we test it and it returns a lift, does it matter if there are 15 words in the headline? Of course not.
So in conclusion I'd say, carefully craft your headlines, and test them again and again, they can be HUGE game changers.
