How To Setup The Ultimate Affiliate Marketing Funnel – in Just 5 Steps

? In this video I'm going to share with you the same affiliate marketing funnel I've used to grow an online business in the 6 figures, using persuasion techniques to “warm” your users into converting on the other side. Most affiliate marketers build their funnel wrong!!

In this video I'm gonna show you how most affiliate marketers do things wrong.

The way that they shape their funnels, the way that they send users to offers and then I'm gonna share with you my own personal funnel that I've used to grow an online business that I eventually sold to multiple six figures.

Hi, I'm Nicolas Fradet and this is my five steps to setting up the ultimate affiliate funnel.

Did you know that 16% of online sales are generated through affiliate marketing?

That doesn't seem like too much but I mean when you compare it to paid searches that drives 20% of online orders, an organic search that drives 21% of online orders, So there's still quite a bit of money you can do through affiliate marketing if you know how to do things right.

Now like I said, I've been doing this for a long time and I've had websites for about 20 years and my first affiliate marketing website I eventually sold to multiple six figures, and this is how I had shaped the same funnel.

This is the same way I still do affiliate marketing to this day.

Make Your Own Affiliate Ad Creatives

The first thing you need to do is once you've found the offer you wanna push, the first thing you wanna figure out is you go into the affiliate dashboard and they give you your link obviously and they give you all sorts of assets perhaps, some images, some banners and all that.

And typically the first thing you wanna do is stay away from that stuff.

First of all, it's pretty generic.

Maybe other affiliate marketers are using the same thing.

The copy and all of that is not necessarily always written really well.

The banners are pretty awful and the thing is that these days people are pretty blind to banner, we call it banner blindness.

And so if you start to sprinkle your blog or your landing page with multiple banners just in the hopes of someone clicking on it and eventually converting, it's gonna take quite a bit of time and that's not the kind of affiliate marketing that really can move the needle.

So what you wanna do is stay away from those banners.

Create your own banners if you want to.

Create banners that are seamless in your website.

Use the same colors, use the same call to action, use the font size, font style, all of that so that they don't necessarily look like banners.

Make it seem as though it's not an advertisement, it's more like something a bit more that you're offering your visitors.

Typically the copy that's gonna be used on those banners isn't the best as well.

So create your own copy.

Use your own voice the way that you would speak to your friends, your visitors on your site and use the same language in your advertisement, whether it's a banner in the sidebar or maybe a top banner of your top bar in your header or something within the context or within your content.

No matter what it is, please stay away from those manners and make up your own basically.

Same thing goes onto social media.

Sometimes they'll give you swipes and things for Facebook and all that.

Just create your own stuff with your own voice, with your own colors, certainly the better way.

Build a Pre-Sell Affiliate Page

The second really thing that's important to know is that if you just take an ad or use a banner, your own banner on your website and you just throw people into the merchant space, right?

The offer that you're pushing, they're not warm enough to that offer yet right?

You're basically sending cold traffic to that merchant's space.

And we know that cold traffic doesn't convert very well.

So what you wanna do is pre-sell your users before you send them away to that merchant's page.

And the way you do it is you create a pre-sell landing page.

Now if you go to my website nicolasfradet.com you'll see that I have a whole section called Tools I Use, and those tools are all affiliate offers and you will see that I have created a pre-sell page for all of these tools.

I'm not just sending people through those tools and hoping I'm getting a commission.

I'm actually linking, inter-linking in my articles and my blogs and within my website to those pre-sell pages first, then hopefully they'll send them over to the offer page.

So what this does is really is I'm using my own copy again, my own voice, the call to action is seamless within my website.

I have added testimonials from the offer pages, endorsement, any media mentions, things like that, case studies if I can mention them.

Anything that, basically I wrote a landing page, a pre-sell page for my audience but that uses the same copy and the same techniques that's gonna be used on the offer page.

So that means that once the person is on my pre-sell page and clicks away, now it becomes just next step in the funnel.

It's not totally, total disconnect compared to what they were, if they were on my website and now they just shot them to the offer page.

Just always always build a presale page so you can better warm up your visitors to the offer you're pushing.

NOTE: See my Affiliate Bootcamp, Dotcom Secrets and ClickFunnels pre-sell pages for examples of this tactic.

Get a Dedicate Affiliate Page on the Merchant's Website

The third thing is if you can, and that's not always possible, sometimes you need to be a super field to get that, you need to get some traction before you can ask that kind of thing but it doesn't hurt you to ask your affiliate manager if you can have that kinda thing.

And it is a dedicated landing page on the merchant's website.

So it's kinda taking the pre-sell page to another level where you're sending your visitors to a page on the merchant's site.

So they're no longer on nicolasfradet.com/page, right?

They're now on the offer page of the offer, page of the offer that you're pushing, but now it's branded maybe to your colors, maybe it has your logo, maybe it mentions your site name.

Maybe you can add a snippet of copy.

And that adds so much trust in the experiences.

Now I visited Nicolas Fradet's page and now I am on this offer, this merchant's website right?

And now it's still mentioning, and maybe it has my picture.

It says recommended by Nicolas and that kinda thing, and that can go so much a long way 'cause again what you're trying to do is make the entire funnel seamless.

So if you can manage to do that, that can go quite a long way.

And if it's not possible, if the merchant doesn't offer that kind of thing or if you're not big enough yet to get that kind of privilege, well just go back to that pre-sell page and make it as good as you can.

Track Your Affiliate Clicks

The fourth step to really setting up the perfect affiliate marketing funnel is track everything.

You need to be tracking all of your clicks and if possible tracking them within the merchant's environment.

So what I mean by that is obviously you should be tracking, if you're so, so you have your blog and maybe you're sprinkling this offer throughout maybe a side bar, maybe you have a banner there that you made yourself.

Maybe you have a contextual link within a blog article, you can mix it up.

Sometimes it makes sense within the article that you wrote to actually send them directly to the author.

But most of the time like I said, you're sending them to the pre-sell page, sometimes maybe it makes sense to link directly.

And you need to be tracking those links.

You need to know which article, which links are getting the most clicked.

And if you can, if the merchant allows it, have some kind of post back URL what that's called so that you can actually try to track the conversions.

Now what that means basically is as you add some kind of JavaScript, some merchants will let you do that, some kind of JavaScript on their thank you page.

And once people have ordered on the other side, it'll ping back to you so that you know that this sale came from this link.

And that can really take it to another level 'cause now you're gonna know which of your links on which pages.

What kind of offer, what kind of pitch, what kind of copy is resulting in a better conversion rate down the line?

So that can go a long way.

So to do these kind of tools, not necessarily the post back URL stuff, but to be tracking if you're just starting out a free tool that you can try is Bitly.

It's pretty easy to set up.

You can have your own keywords in your URL that you're sharing, in the link that you're sharing and that can track your clicks that way.

There's also some WordPress plugins like Pretty Links that I personally use on my website as well sometimes.

So you can track the number of clicks also on those links within your website environment or within other third party resources.

If you wanna go kind of the other level, there's a tool called ClickMagick that I personally use and I'll link to this on the description.

It takes it really to the other level.

You can then, they'll provide you with a JavaScript for the post back URL.

You can track different things.

You can cloak things and make things a little bit funky if you wanna go that route.

So it's a terrific tool, I use it every day.

So these are the kinda things that you need to do if you really wanna step up your game and really build your perfect affiliate marketing funnel.

And the fifth step is kind of optional but it shouldn't be but it kind of is, is capturing an email before you actually send them away.

So if you wanna take it to the other level, you don't necessarily need to do that for all of your offers, maybe just your best offers, the ones that maybe or maybe an offer that you know takes a bit more of warming up before you can convert them, that's when you wanna capture the email first and then warm them up through maybe an email sequence or some videos and then send them away to the offer.

So the way you do that is basically you have an opt-in page on your site.

You can use your pre-sell page and instead of sending them over directly through the merchants page, you warm them up by having them opt in to maybe a giveaway, maybe the thing that you're talking about is a checklist or something you can offer for free, people will opt in that.

And you know that if they're interested in that, they'll be interested in the merchant that you're trying to push as an affiliate.

But it maybe takes a bit more time to warm them up.

So you have them opt in first, you send them a bunch of emails and then you start pushing that affiliate offer.

So as you can see, most people will just maybe buy an add on Facebook or Google or buy a banner somewhere or maybe a text link and they just send them over to the affiliates page, the merchants page and that really is really not the best way to convert people.

You need to warm them up by using your language, your copy, your pre-sell page and make the process seamless from A to Z so that the person just feels at home and that there's a little bit of a trust factor injected into the experience.
